Thank You to the Matangi School Board of Trustees
On behalf of the staff, students, and wider Matangi School community, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Board of Trustees for their dedicated service over the past three-year term. We also acknowledge and deeply appreciate those members who have served beyond this term, offering long-standing commitment and guidance.
Throughout their time, the Board has led the school with professionalism, and a clear focus on policy-driven, student-centred decision-making. Their unwavering commitment to upholding governance standards and supporting the principal and leadership team has ensured that the school continues to grow and thrive.
The positive impact of their leadership will be felt well into the future. We are grateful for their time, expertise, and care, and we thank them for everything they have contributed to Matangi School.
Ngā mihi nui,
On behalf of the Matangi School Staff and Community
Supporting Healthy Computer Use at Home
As our tamariki spend more time online for learning and fun, it's important we work together to support healthy computer use at home. Here are a few simple ways you can help:
- Time: Set clear limits for screen time e.g., no devices before school, during meals, or after a certain time at night.
- Safety: Keep devices in shared spaces so it's easier to check what your child is doing online.
- Appropriateness: Talk with your child about what websites, games, and videos are okay and check in regularly. Roadblox for example, seems harmless, but content can be inappropriate.
- Use parental controls and logins to manage
Your support at home helps reinforce the values we’re teaching at school. Ngā mihi for all you do to keep our tamariki safe and balanced.
Fundraising Fun at Matangi School
What an incredible year it’s been so far for our Fundraising Committee! Thanks to the generosity, energy, and enthusiasm of our wonderful school community, we’ve already raised an amazing $6,986.81, as at 4 September 2025. Every dollar is going straight toward something very special – the resurfacing of our much-loved school pool!
Here’s how the fundraising magic has added up so far:
- Cookie Dough – $267.82
- Easter Raffle & Hot Cross Buns – $4,021.11 (our biggest splash so far )
- Entertainment Books – $60.87
- Mama’s Donuts – $273.09 (because who can say no to donuts?)
- Nectar Cookbook – $295.69
- Nothing Naughty Bars – $1,002.23
- Second-Hand Uniforms – $26.09
- Sock Fundraiser – $434.87
- Tabloids Lunch – $605.04
A huge thank you to everyone who has bought, sold, donated, or simply cheered us on. Your support is helping us dive into this exciting project so that our tamariki can enjoy a refreshed pool for years to come.
And we’re not done yet! With more events and fun on the horizon including a colour run, let’s keep the momentum flowing. Together, we’re proving that when Matangi School rallies, we really can make a splash.
Here’s to fundraising with heart, laughter, and plenty of community spirit!

IF YOU HAVE BEEN SAVING THE YUMMY STICKERS FROM YOUR APPLES THIS YEAR, IT'S NOW TIME TO HAND IN THE SHEETS TO THE OFFICE.
Matangi School collects the Yummy cut-out labels from bags of apples (each cut-out label is worth ten stickers), and we also collect individual Yummy gala apple stickers (1 point). There are so many varieties of YUMMY apples now and we also collect these stickers too (2 points each).
At the end of Term 3 we send away the collated stickers and cut-out labels from the bags and are eligible for a share of the $200,000 free sports gear prize pool. The more stickers/labels collected, the more we can spend on new sports gear.
Yummy apples are available from New World, PAK’n'SAVE and participating Four Square stores. The more you collect, the more sports gear we get, so start collecting your Yummy cut-out labels and stickers now!
