Kia Orai e ngā whānau me ngā hoa o Te Kura Tuatahi o Matangi.
Greetings to the Families and Friends of Matangi School.
As we come to the end of this week, it is with mixed emotions that we prepare to farewell Lisa Murray. Friday will be her last day at Matangi School as she steps into her new role as Deputy Principal at Southwell School. While we are incredibly proud of her achievement, she will be very much missed by our school community, staff and families.
Lisa has made a significant impact during her time here. In her role as SENCO, she has been a strong advocate for families, and as a leader of the junior team, she has guided with professionalism, passion, and care. She has also carried the leadership of the Tōtara Team, a responsibility she now passes on to Laura Robinson, who we know will continue to uphold the high standards, passion and commitment that Lisa has shown.
We invite you all to join us at Friday’s assembly at 2pm as our ākonga share a special celebration in honour of Mrs Murray, who will continue to be involved in our community with her parent hat on.
Michaela Phillips
Acting Principal

This Friday, 5th September, we would like to invite the students to join us and wear cowboy hats for the day. They can still wear uniform please but also wear a hat.
Thanks in anticipation for your support.

Wig Wednesday is your chance to show your support for these tamariki this September.
Students can wear a wig or style a funky hairdo, while raising money for Child Cancer Foundation.
We’re getting wiggy on Wednesday 10th September, please support us by donating a gold coin.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN SAVING THE YUMMY STICKERS FROM YOUR APPLES THIS YEAR, IT'S NOW TIME TO HAND IN THE SHEETS TO THE OFFICE.
Matangi School collects the Yummy cut-out labels from bags of apples (each cut-out label is worth ten stickers), and we also collect individual Yummy gala apple stickers (1 point). There are so many varieties of YUMMY apples now and we also collect these stickers too (2 points each).
At the end of Term 3 we send away the collated stickers and cut-out labels from the bags and are eligible for a share of the $200,000 free sports gear prize pool. The more stickers/labels collected, the more we can spend on new sports gear.
Yummy apples are available from New World, PAK’n'SAVE and participating Four Square stores. The more you collect, the more sports gear we get, so start collecting your Yummy cut-out labels and stickers now!
