Thank you to everyone who has submitted a nomination form for our Board in the upcoming elections.
Our Board plays an important role in the ongoing success of our school. Their primary role is to support our leadership, teaching and support teams to ensure that each one of our aakonga (learners) reaches their full learning potential. This includes working with our team to set the strategic direction of our school, including annual goals.
The board is also the employer of our Matangi team and allocates the budget each year. Ongoing policy review is another important facet of the Board’s work, providing the framework for all of our school’s operations. While the day to day running of the school is delegated to me as principal with the support of our senior leadership team, the board works to ensure that our school is well resourced and is an outstanding place to learn and to work.
Applications closed yesterday and we are very happy to say there have been 13 nominations received. It won't be long now until we get to hear what skills they could bring to the governance of our school. What an exciting time for Matangi School. Please take the time to vote. Invitation to Vote has been sent via email.
Have a wonderful day.

Shoes are needed for the event, as they will be running on gravel, in farm paddocks, and on grass, which could have prickles. Bring a substantial lunch and drink bottle to keep hydrated during the day. WEAR HOUSE COLOURS on the day - talk to your classroom teacher if you are unsure which house you are in. Have warm clothes/a jacket for after the event.
Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend and take photos, but they must stay off the course during each event. Teachers will be available to provide students with assistance if required.
Part of the cross country course is through the reserve. Due to this, there will be no access to the reserve on the morning of Wednesday 20th August, until the cross country has finished. If you are coming to watch your child participate, parking is available on Matangi Road.
We need parent help to run this event, and hay bales for the course. If you are available to volunteer or provide hay bales, please contact Lauren Dawber.
If you have any further questions regarding the day, please feel free to contact me.
