Reminders

We would like to share with you some things that are still on top for us, and we appreciate your help with discussing at home with your child as well.

Hats

We require every child to be wearing our school hat whenever they are outside. If they do not have a hat, they will be asked to play on the deck in the shade during breaks. Hats can be purchased from NZ Uniforms.

Togs

We are still swimming. All children must bring their togs, towel and swim cap to school. If your child cannot swim, please send a note to their teacher.

Bikes

We are thrilled to see many children biking to school and using their bikes during breaks. Our Pump Track will be available for Years 0-3 at morning tea times and Years 4-6 at lunchtimes. All children can ride their bikes at the back of the field during breaks. There have been some great jumps made by the children. They are enjoying these challenges and the super fun that this brings them.

Children are only allowed to ride their own bikes at school.

Helmets and shoes must be worn.

Friday is Wheels Day, and children can bring their scooters, bikes, skateboards etc to school and ride them anywhere; but not on the turf courts. Again - a helmet and shoes must be worn.

Road Patrol

Our road patrollers are doing a terrific job. Morning road patrol is from 8.30 am - 8.50 am, and our afternoon session runs from 2.50 pm - 3.00 pm.

Kaitiakitangi Day / Enviro Day - Friday 28th March

This term for our school-wide Kaitiakitanga day (Enviro day) we will have a focus on tracking species our fauna at our kura. As part of the day we will be creating tracking stations and need some corflute for this, this is the material used for signs like real estate signs. If you have any corflute you could donate to the school please drop it to the school office or email ameertens@matangi.school.nz

We will also need to purchase ink pads so if anyone has a source of these please also contact me. Thank you.

Teacher Only Day - tomorrow, Friday 4th April 2025 School Closed

The school will be closed for instruction tomorrow, Friday 4th April 2025, for a Ministry of Education approved Teacher Only Day.

The staff will be engaged in professional development to support the implementation of the revised English and Mathematics Curriculums.

We thank you for your support and understanding of this.

Tui House will not be open on this day.

Hautapu Junior Rugby

Registrations for Hautapu junior rugby 2025 have opened. The options are rippa rugby for Years 1-2 and junior tackle rugby for Years 3-6.

Matangi School Tui House Before & After School Care

Booking your child/ren into Matangi School Tui House - Before & After School care is essential.

As our school continues to grow and the numbers attending Tui House increase, we are no longer able to accept children who are not enrolled or booked in.

This is for the safety of your child and additionally, supports the staff who are responsible for your child/ren.

Morrinsville Road Upgrade

11th and 15th March, 2025. Two chances to visit drop in discussions of the HCC plans for the Morrinsville Road upgrades at Berkley Middle School. Of particular interest is the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Matangi Road, Morrinsville Road and Silverdale Road.

Your Lunch Box supplies all of our school lunches Monday to Friday. Online lunch orders are available throughout the school week.

HOW: Order online at www.yourlunchbox.co.nz

Lunches are delivered to the office prior to the morning tea break.
The hot lunch option available on Wednesdays will be delivered just before lunch break.
There are different sizes for different appetites and ordering is easy peasy. Simply order before 8.00pm the night before you would like the lunch box delivered.
Choose from either a subscription or one off order.
